Chard, George William

[E] Chard, George William, composer and
organist, was born in 1765. He studied under
Robert Hudson in the choir of St. Paul's.
Lay-clerk at Winchester Cathedral, 1788, and
organist of the Cathedral in succession to
Peter Fussell, 1802. Organist of Winchester
College, 1832. Doc. Mus., Cambridge, 1812.
He died at Winchester, May 23, 1849.
