[E] Clarkson, John, Scottish dancing-master
and violinist, who died at St. Andrews,
January 20, 1812. He compiled " Clarkson's
T»Iusicai Entertainment, being a selection of
various Tunes and Pieces of Music adapted
for the Pf. or Harpsichord," n.d.[+] His son John was a dancing-master and
violinist, and published " A Complete Collec-
tion of the much-admired Tunes, as Danced
at the Balls and Publics of the late Mr.
Strange, Teacher of Dancing in Edinburgh."
This work appeared about the beginning of
