[E] Cobb, Richard Barker, baritone vocalist,
known by the nom de theatre of Richard
Temple, made his debut in opera at the Crystal
Palace, 1872. Toured in the Gilbert and Sulli-
van operas, 1879 ; sang at the Savoy Theatre in
" Princess Ida" and " The Mikado," 1884-5 ;
gave performances of opera in Italian at the
Gaiety Theatre, May, 1886, himself taking
the title-part in " Rigoletto ;" revived Gou-
nod's " The Mock Doctor " at the Grand
Theatre, London, 1890 ; and sang at the Olym-
pic Theatre, under Signor Lago's manage-
ment, October, 1892. He turned to the music
halls early in that year, and appeared at the
Trocadero ; sang again in the concert-room,
1893 ; and recited in Mendelssohn's " Athalie "
at the Queen's Hall, November 13, 1895.entry id: 95-L-32
