Cooke, Nathaniel

[E] Cooke, Nathaniel, comj)oser and organist,
born at Bosham, near Chichester, 1773. He
studied under his uncle, Matthew Cooke, of
London (organist). Organist of the Parish
Church of Brighton. He died sometime after
1820.

[W] Works. — Collection of Psalms and Hymns
sung at Brighthelmston, with several Canons,
and a Te Deum, arranged for the Organ or
Pianoforte, n.d. Glees and Songs. Pianoforte
Music.

[+] Cooke was a good organist, and composed
the canon, " I have set God always before me."
