was born at Bath in 1819. Studied violin
under Spagnoletti. Appeared as solo violinist
at Drury Lane Theatre, 1830. Principal vio-.
linist at Royal Italian Opera. Leader at[+] Philharmonic Society. Violinist at Provincial
Festivals. Conductor at various theatres.
Latterly conductor at the Gaiety Theatre,
Glasgow. He died at Glasgow, January 26,
1881. He was one of the foremost of the
English school of violinists, and at one time
well known in London. He was married to
